Memorial Day Parade
May 27 @ 9:30 am – 11:30 am
The O’Connor-Chiers American Legion 340 along with Wells Krause Veterans of Foreign Wars 2925 and the Berlin Veterans Foundation, Inc. are in the process of coordinating the Berlin Memorial Day activities for May 27, 2024.
A parade is planned for 9:30 AM Monday. If you wish to participate, line up will begin at 9AM in the South Capron Street parking lot (behind Berlin Beauty/Riverside Coffee Company).
The parade route will begin at the South Capron Street/Huron Street intersection and proceed down Water Street, ending at the Berlin Veterans Memorial.
A short ceremony commemorating those who gave the ultimate sacrifice will follow the parade.
Along with the parade, there will once again be a radio broadcast at the Berlin Veterans Memorial in Riverside Park for enjoyment all weekend long.
Other events will occur as normal including the placement of flags on veteran graves in area cemeteries. The Gold Star Tribute Wall will be displayed near the Memorial in Riverside Park but social distancing must be utilized. Berlin’s local cable TV Spectrum/Charter channel 990 will again carry the slide show for area veterans.
Please refer to future articles in this paper for more information as details become available. Plan ahead and set aside a little time during the holiday weekend to remember those that have gone before us. Lest we forget.
