RESIDENTIAL SERVICES TIMELINE

The City of Berlin Department of Public Works (DPW) would like to remind residents of services provided starting in the Spring of each year.  These services are in place to help homeowners keep their properties neat, clean and free of unnecessary debris.

2025 Public Works Schedule of Services

NOTE: BUSINESSES AND MULTI FAMILY DWELLINGS OVER 4 UNITS WILL NOT RECEIVE SPRING CLEANUP SERVICES.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Department of Public Works is to plan, construct, and maintain a safe, attractive, and functional transportation system, and provide facilities management, fleet management, and waste collection to enhance the City of Berlin’s quality of life.  Excellent service includes appropriate service hours and a trained, courteous staff to provide timely, accurate, and appropriate information and assistance.

Snow Removal

  • Sidewalks need to be cleared of snow and/or ice within 24 hours from the time the snow or ice ceases to accumulate on the sidewalk
  • See Code of ordinances Sec. 58-66 for more information
  • The superintendent of streets, his designees and police officers are authorized to enforce the provisions of this section

CONTRACTS WITH CITY FOR SNOW REMOVAL
(SNOW REMOVED AND DEPOSIT IN THE PUBLIC STREET)

  • Application received at City Hall (108 N Capron St) by November 15
  • An annual charge is based on the square footage of the area to be served
  • Snow removal services as outlined in Code of ordinances Sec 58-67
  • The City of Berlin is not responsible for any snow not deposited or piled in accordance with the direction of the Public Works Superintendent

Winter Parking

  • November 30 thru March 31
  • Permit approved by the Director of Public Works
  • Permit purchased at City Hall (108 N Capron Street)
  • Permit sticker is placed on the back bumper on the driver’s side of the car
  • Parking on the street will alternate even/odd to correspond with the calendar
  1. If the day is even number you will park on the side of the street that the last digit of the house is 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8
  2. If the day is odd number you will park on the side of the street that the last digit of the house is 1, 3, 5, 7 or 9
  • Public Works department may request that you remove your vehicle off the street if needed for snow removal
